Thirteen national parks I want to visit
Yes, I just came back from vacationing in the Smoky Mountain National Park and I’m ready for another trip. Reality sucks! I’ve been taking a mental vacation and here are 13 parks in the U.S. I’d like to visit.
1. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii
2. Shenandoah National Park, Virginia (I’m headed there in November)
3. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona (I’ve only seen it for a mile above through an airplane window)
4. Yellowstone National Park, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming
5. Yosemite National Park, California
6. Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico
7. Petrified Forest National Park, Airzona
8. Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska
9. Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
10. Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota
11. Badlands National Park, South Dakota
12. Crater Lake National Park, Oregon
13. Glacier National Park, Montana

Geez. How do you limit it to 13??
I’ll be in Shenandoah in … a little over 2 weeks. I’m pumped.
And, of course, you know how I feel about Yellowstone. Dormant volcano or no, I’d move out there in a heartbeat.
I’ll be in Arizona in two weeks, wonder if I’ll have time to check out the chasm.

All of these places sound like beautiful adventures.

I live less than 100 miles from Carlsbad – 10 years – have yet to go there! That’s terrible, isn’t it?

Great list. I’ve been to four or five of them (even though I’ve lived in California, Arizona, Utah, and have traveled through Hawaii, Wyoming, Montana, and New Mexico). Quick correction: You almost threw me for a loop with your locating Badlands in Utah – it’s in South Dakota and, yes, I’ve been there.

Great list and the one’s I haven’t visited are on my list. We have the national park book and are trying to visit them all. Volcano national park is like being on the moon’s suface untill you get close enough to the lava flow to see the stem coming up where it hits the wocean. At the grand Canyon we were luck enough to see the CONDORS fly right by us and settle nearby. Fantastic!!
I hope you make it to a all 13.

Have you been to Glacier? I’ve always wanted to go – especially now that the glaciers are melting. Most of your list I’ve been too – If you come this way (New Mexico or Colorado), we can tour together. Dinasaur is pretty cool too! 🙂

I have visited Arches before, aliceaudrey. Its truly an amazing park!
That is terrible, SJ, but understandable. Life often gets in the way of recreation but you should make time to see Carlsbad for yourself.
