Thirteen Great Restaurants/Dishes

What’s not to love about going out to eat, other than footing the bill. Someone else cooks, serves and does the dishes. I’ve found that once I have a favorite dish at a restaurant, I’m very reluctant to try anything else. Yes its narrow-minded but it means I won’t be disappointed. Below are thirteen of my favorite restaurants and dishes, in no particular order.

1. Rain Forest Café, Disney Village, cyclone crab cakes: broiled crab cakes made with lump crabmeat, garnished with lemon butter sauce, served with Caribbean rice and Napa veggies.

2. Carabbas, Pollo Rosa Maria: chicken stuffed with fontina cheese and prosciutto, topped with mushrooms and a basil lemon butter sauce. Since my daughter now works at Carabbas we get a discount. Yay!

3. Macaroni Grill, Shrimp Portofino: sauteed shrimp with mushrooms, pine nuts and spinach in a lemon butter sauce served with imported capellini pasta.

4. Pei Wei, Shrimp Pad Thai: Thai noodle stir fry with 5 spice tofu, bean sprouts, scallions, egg, crushed peanuts, fresh lime, cilantro and rice noodles.

5. Bonefish Grill, sea scallops & shrimp with warm mango salsa

6. CD Roma’s (local – no website), eggplant parmigiana: layers of eggplant, tomato sauce, ricotta, Romano and mozzarella cheeses.

7. Charlie & Millie’s (local – no website), Alka-Seltzer pizza, Sicilian style pizza with everything but the kitchen sink. They put the toppings under the cheese. Yum!

8. Arigato Japanese Steak House, Emperor Combination of chicken, shrimp and scallops. This is one of those places where the table is a grill and they put on a show of cooking your dinner.

9. California Pizza Kitchen, Thai chicken pizza: chicken breast marinated in spicy peanut-ginger and sesame sauce, Mozzarella cheese, green onions, bean sprouts, julienne carrots, cilantro and roasted peanuts.

10. The Bamboo Club, mandarin orange chicken with crispy spinach

11. The Cheesecake Factory, stuffed chicken tortillas: corn tortillas stuffed with spicy chicken, covered in melted cheese, green onions and tomatillo sauce, served with grilled corn cakes, black beans salsa and sour cream.

12. Columbia Restaurant, Snapper Alicante: snapper baked with sweet Spanish onions, green peppers, a rich gravy of olive oil, fresh garlic and sauterne wine, topped with sliced almonds, served with yellow rice, fried eggplant and fried, bacon wrapped shrimp.

13. La Teresita (local – no website) best local place for cuban sandwiches.

I like restaurants where everything is cooked from fresh. The trouble with chain restaurants is that the food is usually trucked in pre-cooked and microwaved to order. That said, many of them are at least dependable, and you can get a reasonable meal at a reasonable price.

Oh my lordy. I think I gained 10 pounds just reading your lisst lol
Good stuff! Happy T13!

My husband’s like that–he’ll find something he likes at a restaurant and never order anything else. I like to try something new every time–though if there’s something I absolutely love, it makes for a tough decision: do I go for what I know is yummy, and risk missing out on something equally good, or even yummier?

We’ve only found two restaurants we like so far in our new town. It’s always a challenge.

Oh man, I came to the wrong site for trying to diet. You’re making me hungry.

Gosh, they sound absolutely fabulous! I do love going out to dinner! 🙂

I’d like to try every one!

Mmmm … the shrimp portofino sounds DELICIOUS! Macaroni Grill, huh? I’ll have to give it a try, and they should thank you for endorsement! (Thanks for visiting my TT)
