Thirteen things about my group vacation

I highly recommend everyone take a week off work and spend it relaxing with friends. Even though there were tons of vacationers in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge creating a traffic nightmare we still had a blast.

 1. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is beautiful. There are lots of places to stop and hike or relax.

  2. Rafting on the Pigeon River was amazing. Our guide had a great personality and made the trip a lot of fun. (You can’t see me in the picture, but I’m the 3rd yellow helmet back on the left side)

3. I got to spend time with my son-in-law and daughter, who I don’t get to see very often.

4. My daughter and son fell right back into their old habits of bickering over almost everything. Yes, some things never do change!

5. With so many people in one house I expected there to be difficulties but friends, new and old, got along great.

6. Our kids made great new friendships that will hopefully remain strong over the years to come.

  7. The husbands went grocery shopping and even cooked for us. They totally spoiled us.

8. Keeping such a large group fed was a challenge. We mostly kept things simple by cooking on the grill.

9. The ladies took over the dining table and turned it into laptop central. Many late night talks happened around that table.

10. Avoiding the crowds and watching fireworks from our balcony was very nice.

11. We had a great view from the balcony, which was a popular spot for reading and chatting.

12. Mornings made it obvious why they were named the Smoky Mountains.

13. I really love the mountains and hope to one day make a move from Florida to mountains in the west.

Our group vacation was so much fun that plans are already underway for our 3rd annual vacation next summer in either Las Vegas, Colorado or West Virginia.

Thirteen Things About Nicole Austin

1. Nicole Austin is a pseudonym.

2. It was created because of my children and is a combination of their names.

3. Nicole is my daughter’s middle name.

4. Austin is my son’s first name.

5. Having an alternate personality is difficult until you grow accustomed to it.

6. Now I answer to either name without pause.

7. Since writing doesn’t pay all the bills or provide health insurance coverage, I have another career—CT Scan Technologist.

8. For my next career I’d like to do something with visual art, perhaps creating website graphics.

9. My first attempt at writing a novel never reached completion and will never see the light of day.

10. My first two completed works have never been read by anyone other than me, although I am working on rewriting one of them.

11. I write erotic romance using elements from multiple sub-genre.
Action/Adventure
BDSM
Contemporary
Erotica
Fantasy (work in progress)
Interracial
Ménage à Trois and More
Mystery/Suspense
Paranormal
Psychic Fiction
Science Fiction (ideas percolating)
Shape-shifter
Time Travel (idea being developed)
Vampire (just completed)

12. There’s only one I won’t try. I’m deathly afraid of Historicals. *shudders* Get a fact wrong in a historical and readers will tear you apart. It’s true. I’ve seen it happen.

13. I’m highly allergic to deadlines. They give me hives and exile my muse.

Thirteen reasons I forgot about Thursday Thirteen

1. Is it really Thursday already? Where’d this week go?

2. Lover Enshrined, Book 6 in The Black Dagger Brotherhood series released.

3. I’d been waiting a loooong time for Phury’s story!

4. I couldn’t put the book down long enough to blog.

5. I had an appointment to get my hair done. My gray was showing. *gasp*

6. The home computer got a virus.

7. I had to take it back to factory settings.

8. It’s a painful process. I’d almost rather go to the dentist.

9. I’m still not done getting it set back up.

10. My son is out of school for the summer.

11. He requires lots of attention.

12. We had to go see Ironman, which was great!

13. I had to spend time cruising around town in the new car.

Thirteen Cool Things About My New Car

After checking out all the available information and test driving cars we ended up buying a 2008 Dodge Charger R/T. It doesn’t get the best gas mileage, but had all the features we wanted.

It has a 5.7l V8 Hemi with 350 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. It doesn’t purr, it growls!

Lots of leg room in the front and back

It drives like a dream. Smooth, powerful and responsive.

U-connect — Bluetooth hands free calling connected to my families cell phones

GPS navigation so I don’t get lost

Rear view mirror automatically dims when bright lights get closer

Leather seats with suede accents

Power moon roof

Fog lights (I’ve never had fog lights)

Dual zone air conditioning means my side of the car can be cooler

The car monitors the tire pressure

Sirius satellite radio

Power Adjustable pedals—the distance of the break and gas pedals can be adjusted

I can’t wait to get out on the highway in the Charger for our first road trip at the end of the month. *Note to self: Watch for speed traps in Georgia.

Thirteen Reasons I’m Looking At New Cars

I’ve been shopping online and trying to decided if it’s the right time to buy. Here are 13 reasons I’ve been checking out new cars and comparing lists of features, specifications and options. I’ll probably be going for test drives over the next week.

1. $$ Gas. The deal through Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep that gets you 12,000 miles worth of gas per year at $2.99 a gallon for three years is going to save me a lot of money.

2. $$ Maintenance. My current car has all kinds of high performance equipment that costs a fortune to maintain and replace.

3. $$ Low % rate. My bank offered me a great deal

4. $$ Cash back incentives

5. No haggling nightmares by using my bank’s purchase program

6. Leg room. My son, at 13 years old, is already 5’ 9” and wears a size 11 men’s shoe. He needs more room!

7. Better warranties available

8. New and improved safety features

9. Fun new car gadgets to play with

10. I enjoy driving and actually know about things like displacement, torque, horsepower…

11. New car smell (even though it’s supposed to bad for you)

12. Showing off the new car to friends and family

13. Because I want one

The big dilemma—deciding whether luxury or muscle is more important to me both right now and in the long run.

Thirteen BDSM Toys Used In The Creation Of Trip My Switch

Trip My Switch released last month from Ellora’s Cave Publishing. I took a lot of risks with this story, which is part of the Exotika line. While women are the primary readers of erotic romance, Trip My Switch is written in the first-person POV of the male hero, Bash.

No, I am not a man and writing from a male perspective was both a challenge and easier than I would have thought it would be. At times, I felt as if I was channeling the hero’s spirit and just writing what he told me to. One of the things about this book is the depth of intimate detail I was able to write. Another was all the wild toys I discovered while conducting research. Wow! There are some pretty amazing devices out there. Here are 13 BDSM toys I used in Trip My Switch.

.

1. The Hood - This is a bit more extensive than what I pictured when writing but will give you the general idea. Bash wore a hood which blinded and gagged him. This protected the identity of his dominants, and prevented him from seeing or speaking. Take away those senses and the others become heightened.

This particular hood can be purchased from JT’s Stockroom.

2. The Pelvis Harness - (For those 18 and older) To see a picture of a pelvis harness click here. In Trip My Switch, the device was used to keep a butt plug in place.

.

3. The Chest Harness - The cover of Trip My Switch used a typical chest harness in the photograph taken by Les Byerley. Thanks again Les for capturing the perfect edgy, erotic photo for my story.

I love the tantalizing length of chain dipping beneath my name and into shadow. Yum! I do cringe though when looking at those wicked nipple clamps and feel a whole lot of smypathy pains for the model. Youch! His suffering for the sake of my book cover is greatly appreciated.

Trip My Switch

4. Arm Binders - I took a bit of liberty with this portion of the book and had Bash’s arms restrained behind his back with at the biceps, elbow and wrists. This picture will give you the general idea of the type of restraint I invisioned.

The pictured biceps restraint can be found at Mr S Leather.

5. Ball Gag - Ball gags come in a wide variety.

You can find this ball gag and more at  JT’s Stockroom.

6. The Cock Cage - (For those 18 and older *Graphic photo*) To see a picture click here.

7. The Flogger - Floggers can be made from a variety of materials, each providing a different sensation on the flesh.

This flogger was handcrafted by Sire Don. Visit his website if you are interested in high-quality toys at resonable prices.

8. The Paddle - This is another fabulous toy handcrafted by Sire Don.

9. The Penis Plug - I took a bit of literary liberty with the penis plug and electrical play, creating a plug based on this design by Keith from Penis Plugs Ablaze. Keith was a great help with describing the use of the plug and sensations. Thanks again, Keith!

 10. The Stainless Steel Butt Plug - This is another item that is available in a wide variety of designs and which I took a bit of literary liberty with.

You can find this butt plug and many more at  JT’s Stockroom.

11. Pulsed Electrical Signal Generator - Please us caution and take the time to learn about electrical play from someone experienced with it before experimenting! That said, I recently had the opportunity to experience the sensations delivered by a Violet Wand and all I can say is wow, it was an amazing experience!

You can find this PES and moree at JT’s Stockroom.

12. The Ass Sucker - The name of this device alone is scandalously naughty. Bash certainly found it to be a wild experience. Poor Bash, I really put him through the ringer with all the toys I discovered during my research.

This is yet another devious little toy I discovered at JT’s Stockroom.

13. The Sex Machine - Of course mine had to be extreme with two probes. I don’t beleve much explanation is needed, but if you’d like to see a picture (For those 18 and over) click here.

There are some other more common toys used in the book that I didn’t discuss such as a pleasure swing and padded restraint bench. As I note at the beginning of the book, Trip My Switch is a work of fiction and incorporates only elements of Domination/submission and BDSM. It is not intended to accurately portray a true BDSM or Dom/sub relationship. Use of electrical toys is not recommended without great care and training. Liberties have been taken with the design of the toys used in this fictional work.

As always, thanks for stopping by to check out my ramblings! Happy TT!
