My Favorite Treats

Since I’m short on time this week from putting in extra shifts at work, I’m borrowing the idea someone posted last week. It works out well since chocolate is my favorite food group and I have an incredibly sweet tooth. I prefer dark chocolate, especially truffles. Pair the chocolate with peanut butter, caramel or almonds and I’m a very happy camper. Peter Pan used to do this chocolate peanut butter that was … mmmmmm-damn! I wish they’d bring that back!

My favorite chocolates come from Harbor Candy Shop. Their truffles are devine and come in this box that looks like a book, wrapped up with a lovely bow. <deep sigh>

Slather some peanut butter on a few Oreos and I’m in heaven!

I have yet to find a variety of Reese’s that I didn’t love!

The same goes for Twix. They had a limited edition Java version I was addicted to.

For when I want to pretend my treat is healthy

What’s your favorite treat?

Make sure to stop by Adelle Laudan’s list, which is guaranteed to have you ROFL!

{October 28, 2008}   Fun With Pumpkins

My son and I visited the pumpkin patch tonight and had a lot of fun carving them. We also made a huge mess.

Mine took a bit longer since I peeled off the skin instead of carving all the way through to the center.

AJ’s is the one puking up its guts.

Extreme Pumpkin Carving

I was searching online for pumpkin carving ideas. I hate those stupid templates with the useless little tools so I got a rotary tool set. I think some of the more intricate ones are a beyond my capabilities, but they are very cool. The first one is my favorite. I’m thinking of making a punk rocker one. That would be fun!

*Bonus: This one is not actually carved but its still great!

For pumpkin carving tips visit Extreme Pumpkins.

Happy Halloween!

Today is a great day for reviews. Flyboy, The Hussies series, got a great review from WitchGiggles of Alternative-Read.com. We are having a lot of fun writing the series, WtichGiggles! Thanks so much for the awesome review!

“This series is such fun to read. Women who rule themselves, fight alongside their men, men who are strong ,yet reasonable (well as much as they can be, at any rate), great shenanigans to keep me rooted to the pages, suspense, and some scorchingly erotic sex in unusual places (secretly my favorite kind). Throw in the fact it’s written with enough realism to make it believable, humor to lighten it an you’ve got a really good read.”

Trip My Switch got a fabulous review from Aris of Alternative-Read.com. Thanks, Aris! I’m so glad you enjoyed the story and got the intense emotions!

“This is a very interesting look at the emotional response to BDSM in a dramatic way. Although a novel, it depicts the connection of the emotional response to giving up all physical control in a most delicious way. I was delighted with the book in every way. There is intense, kinky sex, and in the context of being blindfolded and gagged, an emotional bond forms a deep hold quickly. The Masters certainly enjoy their night. But is Sebastian’s question about being a natural submissive really answered? You will have to read and decide that for yourself. It will be worth it.”

{October 18, 2008}   Promises Reveal by Sarah McCarty

Blurb:

He’s a man who survives by his wits and lives by his own code. Along the way he’s left a trail of broken hearts, broken bones, and quite a few broken laws. But when he gives his heart to the right woman, it comes with a promise he’ll never, ever break…

Dedicated artist Evie Washington doesn’t fancy herself the marrying kind. But the moment she admitted that her faceless portrait of a naked man was modeled on the devilishly handsome Reverend Swanson, the whole town assumed her innocence had been ruined. Now her family’s determined to save her reputation—even if it means taking away her hard-won freedom.

It’s Brad “Shadow” Swanson’s preacher status that’s a pose—to avoid the law . Now he’s been convicted of the one crime he didn’t commit. And if he doesn’t step up and marry Evie, he’ll have to admit his true identity and replace his collar with a noose. Of course, a life sentence in the spirited beauty’s bed wouldn’t exactly be torture—and it just might be the key to making an honest man out of him…

Nic’s Recommendation:

I’d been anticipating this 4th book in the Promises series for a long time, and Sarah McCarty does not disappoint with Promises Reveal. Hands down, this is the best book I’ve read in a while. The Promises series holds a prominent place on my keeper shelf, and I revisit the stories often.

Reverend Brad Swanson is a delight. A bad-boy preacher getting naughty in the church, *gasp* I love it. Brad still sees himself as Shadow, and knows Shadow isn’t worthy of love. Evie had the ability to see beneath the masks people wear. In her heart, she knows who Brad is. Getting him to see the truth requires a lot of faith, trust and love.

Promises is a heart-warming, sexyseries that will keep you riveted! I highly recommend you pick up these great reads!

Promises Reveal is available from Amazon, where you can also find the first 3 books in this must read series; Promises Linger, Promises Keep and Promises Prevail.

You might have estrogen issues if…

1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem

2. You’re adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet

3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans

4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say

5. You’re using your cell phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says “How’s my driving-call 1- 800-”

6. Everyone’s head looks like an invitation to batting practice

7. Everyone seems to have just landed here from “outer space”

8. You’re sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy

9. Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean it’s not true

10. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you just bought it yesterday

11. Everyone around you is freezing cold, but your personal furnace is providing a tropical heat wave

12. You don’t know whether to laugh or cry so you do both simultaneously

13. You have to write post-it notes with your kids’ names on them
