{June 27, 2008}   Ouch!

I finally did it. Screwed up my courage and went got the tattoo I’ve been thinking about for the past few years done. OMG! It hurt so bad. I can’t even describe how bad, but it felt like he was using a combination blowtourch and meat grinder on my back. LOL! I’m very happy with the results though.

The picture isn’t great. It was all lotioned up and my son was the photographer. I love the colors! It measures 5 1/2 inches high and 7 1/2 inches wide.

Thirteen Things I Want To Do On Vacation

For 4th of July week some friends and I rented a huge luxury lodge in the Smoky Mountains. I’ll be off from work for 18 days. Woohoo! I can’t wait! This will be our first road trip in the new car. I’ve made a list of things I want to do, even though I never get to them all.

No TT for me next week since I’ll be on the road.

1. White water rafting on the Big Pigeon Forge River

2. Horseback riding in the mountains

3. Some light hiking in the Smoky Mountain National Park

4. Visit the local winery

5. Go to the Ripley’s Aquarium

6. Go to a country diner show

7. Spend a day cooling off at the water park

8. Go see the furry babies at the Knoxville Zoo

9. Visit the local shops

10. Avoid getting tickets in the speed traps.

11. Sit around in my pajamas and read

12. Stay awake all night talking with my friends

13. Sit on the deck and drink margaritas

{June 22, 2008}   Online Shopaholics

I confess. I am a total online shopping junke! There are websites I check every day for deals. And I find myself bying things that I’ll probably never use just because I got some special deal on it.

I also LOVE getting packages and can tell the sound of the UPS and Fed-Ex trucks from other vehicles. LOL! Yup, its a sickness.

Here are some great websites where you can find stuff at awesome prices.

Thirteen Things About Nicole Austin

1. Nicole Austin is a pseudonym.

2. It was created because of my children and is a combination of their names.

3. Nicole is my daughter’s middle name.

4. Austin is my son’s first name.

5. Having an alternate personality is difficult until you grow accustomed to it.

6. Now I answer to either name without pause.

7. Since writing doesn’t pay all the bills or provide health insurance coverage, I have another career—CT Scan Technologist.

8. For my next career I’d like to do something with visual art, perhaps creating website graphics.

9. My first attempt at writing a novel never reached completion and will never see the light of day.

10. My first two completed works have never been read by anyone other than me, although I am working on rewriting one of them.

11. I write erotic romance using elements from multiple sub-genre.
Action/Adventure
BDSM
Contemporary
Erotica
Fantasy (work in progress)
Interracial
Ménage à Trois and More
Mystery/Suspense
Paranormal
Psychic Fiction
Science Fiction (ideas percolating)
Shape-shifter
Time Travel (idea being developed)
Vampire (just completed)

12. There’s only one I won’t try. I’m deathly afraid of Historicals. *shudders* Get a fact wrong in a historical and readers will tear you apart. It’s true. I’ve seen it happen.

13. I’m highly allergic to deadlines. They give me hives and exile my muse.

{June 18, 2008}   Candyman – Revised

My expanded vampire novella, Candyman, is done and off to my critique group. YAY! I finally figured out what was holding up the works. It needed a very intense vamp-on-vamp, no holds barred sex scene. *G*

Once my crit group is done tearing it to shreds then it will be off to my editor. Below is what I’ve been toying with for a blurb. It’s not quite there yet, but getting close.

Blurb:

Elisa Wilde’s recurrent dreams transcend time and place. Dreams so real they seem to be actual memories of a bygone era. Driven to unravel the mystery and reclaim her life, she’s drawn into an amazing adventure—the search for another woman’s lover.

Michael Claret waited decades for the return of his beloved, but getting her back is only a small part of the battle. Edie has changed, evolved into a different woman. Not only will Michael have to once again win her love, he’ll also have to gain her acceptance of his true nature. And to keep her requires she make a huge leap of faith. They’ll have to complete the mating bond—a sharing of blood joining them together for eternity.

But fate is a cruel mistress who will not be cheated or denied. To make the most of their second chance, Michael and Lis must alter the path chosen for them, and rewrite their love story or be lost to each other forever.

That’s the last time I let my son pick the movie. The Happening is a total waste of time and money. OMG! It’s like one of those cheesy 70’s movies that try to be scary but the ridiculous special effects only make it laughable. The acting was horrible and there wasn’t really much plot to speak of.

What the heck was Mark Wahlberg thinking when he signed on for that movie? He must have been pretty hard up for some work.

{June 13, 2008}   Friday the 13th

Superstitious? Do you believe a black cat crossing your path is a bad omen? Want to hide under the covers on Friday the 13th? For the past 12 years I’ve worked in hospitals and have developed a strong respect for superstitions. I can attest that the crazies really do come out when its a full moon. The hospital is always busier during the full moon, from a few nights before and afterward too. I’m not too convinced on Friday the 13th though. One the last occurrence, I had one of my slowest nights at work ever.

What do you think? Is it all a bunch of delusional hype? Grab your good luck charms, peek out from under the covers and let us know what you think!

Yay! Just got an awesome review from Samantha Ann of Night Owl Romance for Trip My Switch and its looking more and more like my daring risk is paying off. Thanks Samantha!

“I was pleasantly surprised to find this tale was as much about a person figuring out who they were and where they fit in an uncertain world.

“The read was fascinating, following the lead character in learning what does and does not “trip the trigger” so to speak. When the former lover comes back and makes an offer, the excitement and anguish is felt by the reader as well. And my, my, what an arsenal that former lover does have!

“Well worth picking up and while it may not be my lifestyle choice, the chance to play voyeur was amazing (and educational).”

On the Night Owl Romance rating scale 4 hearts = A page turner.
