Top Thirteen Things Women Want In A Man

What do women look for in a man? Six-pack abs, tanned GQ cover model looks? You might be surprised by the top thirteen qualities women want in a man. Listen up guys, class is in session. Pay attention.
Acknowledgment: This list is from an Ezine Article, which you can read by clicking here.

1. Honesty – We should be able to have faith in what you say.
2. Intelligence – The brain is the largest, most powerful sex organ. We want someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation.
3. Nice Smile – Your dazzling smile turns us on.
4. Sense of Humor – Takes smarts to be funny. Not stupid slap stick jokes, but humor that challenges us.
5. Manners – Don’t drive up and honk the horn. Use some gold old fashioned manners. Open doors, pull out our chair, make us feel special.
6. Sensitivity – We’d rather know what you are feeling than have to try and guess and likely get it all wrong.
7. Sincerity – Don’t try to be something you’re not to impress. We will be more impressed by your courage in revealing the real you.
8. Gainfully employed – Be responsible and capable of supporting yourself.
9. Has own place – Failure to Launch, is very unattractive.
10. Owns a car – We don’t want to ride the bus to the movies on a date.
11. Affectionate – You don’t have to make a public spectacle of yourself, but show some tenderness. Hold her hand or offer your arm.
12. Considerate – Call if you’re going to be late. Leave us a brief note to say hi just because. The little things mean a lot.
13. Thoughtful – Similar to considerate but requires a bit of premeditation. Do something to make us feel special and important, to let us know we’re in your thoughts.

Very interesting, from a male point of view, though 9 and 10 do make women seem a bit grasping.

Grapsing? Nah, we want to know he is responsible and can support himself instead of expecting us to do it. LOL!

I would add Integrity to the list. Good list though!

Lori says:

Bingo! My hubby has all of these things. I guess that makes us both winners (smile).

Great list. Glad to know my expectations are reasonable!

Absolutely! Hope you had a great New Year!

Malcolm says:

The only one I disagree with is a portion of #5 (opening doors, pulling out chairs, etc.). I think it’s possible to possess manners (which I do) without doing those things (which I don’t). Besides, I have heard some women say they are offended by men who do those things.

Also, slapstick humor shouldn’t be dismissed. Although I enjoy witty/intelligent humor, I am also a huge fan of The Three Stooges. Surprisingly, the lady that I am dating enjoys them as well.

Fabulous list! I’ve got to send that one around to all the men I know! LOL!

Maybe it’s because I’m a city gal, but #10 is not important to me at all. Cabs are fine by me. So I’ll swap that one out for integrity. (Thanks for visiting my TT)

melanie says:

Great list..open the door for me anytime!

CandyQ says:

I mentally ticked each one off for my man. 12 out of 13′s pretty good, don’t you think? :o ) He still has to work on # 6 a bit more, hehe!

Right now I’d take breathing!

SJR
The Pink Flamingo

Guys like that only exist in the books I write. LOL!

Happy TT!

damozel says:

I’m glad I didn’t care about “gainful employment,” a car, or “his own place.” I met my husband when he’d just divorced and was living with his parents (with whom he has a lovely relationship); and he sold his car and gave up his job to move here to marry me….

Lara says:

#4 — definitely!! I don’t think I could stand being with someone without a sense of humor. Boy, I hate to laugh alone!!
Great TT and happy 2008!

Xakara says:

I’m not big on the car. I like nice cars, but I don’t drive and with everything that happens on the road I’m relieved my Sweetie doesn’t drive either. I’ll be a nervous wreck whenever we decide to get a car.

And holding open doors and pulling out chairs only works if I get to reciprocate without catching flak for it.

I’m right there with everything else. :)

I can’t believe it but I got 13 out of 13. Thank Goodness Humility is not on the list.

I Linked your post from 13 Political Reasons the Chicken Crossed the Road

Gattina says:

Very good ! I fully agree !

polockkey says:

Thats a perfect list of what women want, I even think you could have added 10 more but then it wouldn’t be Thirteen Thursday, LOL

I got ‘em all! Great list. Maybe I’ll send it to my son who is looking for the perfect woman. Would be interesting to see what his list of what a man wants…
Happy TT!

Not all 13 things are going to gel with every single woman’s top list, but it is a good place to start. No body is perfect and if they were, things would get pretty boring!

Guys with all these qualities are out there and if there’s a naughty streak inside them, even better :-) Great list Nicole!

marcia v says:

AWEsome list this is why i married my hubby he has a lot of those

Kristi says:

So, so true!! Good looks are great but if the rest of him is a dud, we girls will walk away! And I agree with Tilly – a little streak of naughty is good, too! :) Great list!

Dee says:

Not saying I disagree with any of these… but what about fun, or adventuresome or creative…. just saying.

I’d love to see a list like this from a mans point of view too.

Missy says:

This list is as close to perfect as anybody could expect. Great contribution to TT.

DrillerAA says:

Considering the recent segment on Sixty Minutes regarding the Millenials (those born between 1980 & 1995) some of the desires on your list are going to be hard to come by in the not too distant future. This group is among the most selfish, self centered yet.
Many of those of us who do posess most of the values you’re looking for are already taken. Believe me, I still need some work, but my wife has been patient with me for nearly thirty-four years. Maybe there is hope for me yet.

Happy TT

Rebecca says:

Sounds about right to me! :)

Harris says:

Yeah and don’t we deserve those qualities!!!

Fun list :)

Happy ’08!
