Thirteen things I plan to do in California
My vacation starts in only a few more days. I’ll be in the San Jose area for six days and in Anaheim for three. Here are a thirteen things on my tourist to do list in random order.

I really hate it when mechanics treat women like we are stupid just because we don’t have the Y chromosome. Ugh! Personally, I know just enough about cars to sometimes get myself in trouble. I know my makes and models and can distinguish one muscle car from another. I can also talk up my car and its attributes: dual chrome exhaust, 5.3L V8 with 303 HP and 323 lb-ft of torque, TAPshift manual transmission controls, 18 inch staggered tires, front wheel drive and how because of that it pulls to the right when you nail the gas pedal from a dead stop. Yeah, I like my car. *g*
My baby started riding rough and I checked the tires. Sure enough one of them had a leak so I took it in to the most convenient tire place. They plugged the tire and I had them check the alignment, etc. After about an hour the mechanic calls me out into the service bay to explain that I need pads on my front brakes and new rotors. This is when my brow furrows and I start to look at him funny. My car only has 16,000 miles on it and should not need either. When I asked what was wrong with the rotors he said they could not be machined and if I didn’t want to have brake noise, they would have to be replaced along with the pads.
WTF! There is nothing wrong with the rotors. In fact, they are pristine. Why would I replace them to the tune of $300? Um…hello. Do I have stupid written on my forehead? Nope, didn’t think so. This guy obviously gets a commission if he racks up the sales. Needless to say, tomorrow I’ll be taking the car to a mechanic I know and have him look at and the pads, not the rotors, and replace them if necessary.
I was a good girl, didn’t give the silly fool a smack down he deserved in front of the whole place, but I did nicely let him know that I wasn’t buying his b.s. Grrrrr! What a jerk!
I just heard from my editor and Ellora’s Cave will be publishing Trip My Switch. WOOHOO! I’m so excited about this story. It was a very unique writing experience that pushed me as an author. Trip My Switch will be part of the Exotika line. Its a BDSM (no extremes such as humiliation) menage with some m/m interaction. If the gorgeous cowboy on the cover doesn’t immediately draw your interest, the list of authors should. You really can’t go wrong with an anthology featuring Lacey Alexander, NJ Walters, Charlene Tegila and Cathryn Fox. What a great line up. These four fabulous authors never fail to create memorable tales of love and lust.I had never read anything by either Kate Willoughby or Renee Luke, but will now check out their previous books.
The anthology begins with Ms. Alexander’s story, and boy does she ever get this heated up and off to one heck of a start. I want to be at next year’s Halloween party! Ms. Fox’s shape-shifter got me purring. The third story, Ms. Luke’s tale of a wounded military hero’s homecoming, touched my heart. The fourth story, by Ms. Teglia, is a funny and hot romp through space. I’m ready to be abducted by a hunky spaceman! Ms. Walter’s sexy vampire has me ready to bitten. Silvestru can nibble on my neck anytime! Yum! Ms. Willoughby tops things off with an erotic tale that takes the Pretty Woman theme to whole different level.
I highly recommend you pick up this hot book for a great journey across genres and showcasing a lot of talented authors. It’s a great way to try out new types of stories and become introduced to some new authors you may not have read yet.

A breathless series of moans eased from her lips, the sensual sounds captured by the microphone and carried to the furthest reaches of the club.
“Ahh, mmmhmm, yeah.”
She hummed then sucked in a breath between her teeth, savoring the sexy hiss. Edie started to sing acapella.
“Well hello there, handsome.”
The pianist joined in, delicate tinkling tones merging with her low-pitched breathy tone.
A light snapped on behind her, its diffused glow silhouetting her body.
“You’re such a naughty boy.”
The guitarist began to play, adding a vibrating strum to the mix.
“Left me hot and bothered.”
Then the horns resonated through the room.
“Needing your sweet lovin’.”
As the stage lights rose in a slow progression, Edie slid her hand along her side, drawing attention to her body. Appreciative catcalls and whistles rang out, but never loud enough to detract from her performance.
Her eyes adjusted to the lighting and she scanned the rapt listeners, many of whom sat on the edge of their chairs. Making a complete circuit of the room, she paused often to give the men the thrill of being noticed.
So many strong men to choose from, yet none had that certain something she longed for. The spark that would ignite her flame. Tender romance and an all-consuming passion to make her feel alive.
The sultry lyrics flowed over her tongue, caressed her lips, seducing the crowed but leaving her cold and alone. Set apart because of her aloof persona. Damned by the outcome of a plan of her own design.

Her gaze landed on a group of flyboys banded together, one man standing out from the others—the obvious leader surrounded by his loyal troops. He stood tall and confident in his tan class-B uniform. A silver bar on each shoulder of his brown bomber jacket indicated his rank—first lieutenant. The silver wings over his heart the proud symbol of an aviator.
Her heart rate spiked, heating blood which pounded in her ears. A gluttonous need exceeding anything she’d ever experienced assaulted Edie. Her breasts swelled, her belly did somersaults, and the most wondrous tingling spread through her sex.
Licking her dry lips, she drank in every detail, feeling ravenous for the tall, dark and devastating officer. He nodded and said something to one of his men, but the intent focus of his gaze never left Edie. Light colored eyes, perhaps blue, pierced straight into her core.
The rest of the club faded into the background, and it was just the two of them. Edie’s voice became even huskier, more seductive, as she sang to him. Only him.

He issued a command and the men fanned out around the room. Edie had no idea how she managed to stay put and finish the song when her body screamed for action. Nic’s Recommendation:
Book 6 in the Nature of Desire series lives up to the other 5 books and is every bit as wonderful. Joey Hill’s books always delve deep into the soul of her characters as well as their emotions. You will develop a vested interest in their lives, and feel as if they are old friends.
Quite frankly, she blows me away! I rode a roller coaster of emotions, at times wanting to smack both Thomas and Marcus for being idiots, and other times wanting to give them high-fives or hugs. The sex is raw, primal and totally masculine. Yum!
Note: This book contains BDSM subject matter, but is not an extreme title (ie. No humiliation or other extremes of the genre), and is the story of a smokin’ hot m/m relationship.
