{May 29, 2007}   My Current Project

Here’s a look at what I’m currently working on. This erotica story took me by surprise, but it’s also a lot of wild and crazy fun. It doesn’t have your typical romance HEA either. While researching, I found some interesting toys to torture my poor hero with. It will be a novella length BDSM/Menage. Only about 5,000 words or so to go and I’ll be finished with the first draft.

Trip My Switch

My ex-lover introduced me to the seductive world of BDSM and unleashed a hunger which gnaws at my soul. He insisted I was submissive, but unable to master my raging desires, he left me hanging on the edge.

Submission, dominance—I love it all, but I’m not too sure where I fit in. And what on earth was I thinking when I applied for the position of sex slave for a night?

The sexual extremities make me search my soul and yearn for extra time with my anonymous Doms. Too bad I signed a contract that limited the wild fun and games. I crave so much more—restraints, blindfolds, inventive toys. Bring it on!

Note: Contains scenes of male/male sexual interaction.

{May 24, 2007}   No TT & A Release Date

No Thursday Thirteen for me this week. The fires here in the state of Florida are smoking us out, making breathing difficult and giving me a massive migraine. It’s totally runining my day since working on the computer or reading only make my head hurt worse. Ugh!

I do have news, however. I received a release date for Rakahnja’s Haven, my jaguar shape-shifter. It’s now on the Ellora’s Cave schedule for August 10th. Yay! *doing snoopy dance*

{May 21, 2007}   Only Human by Charlene Teglia

Blurb:

Workaholic Elaine Llewellyn’s enforced vacation leaves her at far too loose an end for her peace of mind. With all that time on her hands, memories and longings she’s been repressing threaten to break free. Her solution? Distract herself by playing tourist on a just-busy-enough road trip through Maine.

A storm and a blocked road send her to an unscheduled stop at Damon Thorne’s private retreat. Instead of the B&B she’s expecting, the man who’s world famous for his surreal paintings of psychic visions has been expecting her and all of her careful plans are washed away with the rain.

Trapped in the house while the storm rages outside, Damon sets out to break through Elaine’s barriers, physical, mental and emotional. When the storm ends, she’ll have to make a choice: go back to the life of denial she’s been living, or come to terms with her own psychic gifts, her passionate nature, and the second chance at love she’s been offered.

Recommendation:

WOW! Only Human is an intriguing page-turner that you won’t be able to put down. It is a dark and edgy tale with some very <wink, wink> stimulating, sexual and arousing content. Damon is an alpha that will have you drooling big time. Elaine will keep you on your toes trying to guess the secret she is keeping about herself.

Ms. Teglia, I just have to say, way to go! You really got creative writing this book. Congrats on another winner of a story.

Only Human will be available from Ellora’s Cave Publishing on May 23rd.

{May 18, 2007}   Alien Overnight by Robin L. Rotham

Blurb:

Commander Kellen is on Earth recruiting women for his planet’s sex-starved males. Not particularly excited by human anatomy, he seeks nothing more for himself than the occasional slaking of his needs with some anonymous female — which shouldn’t be a problem, since she’ll have to face the other way to accommodate his special anatomical needs.

Dr. Monica Teague is thrilled with her ten-year assignment caring for Garathan’s sexual recruits. Her quirky looks and childish excuse for a body guarantee she’ll never be expected to put out — which is kind of a bummer, now that she’s up to her armpits in horny alien beefcake.

But, when an overdose of alien pheromones makes Monica drunk off her ass, Kellen quickly claims the odd little doctor before another Garathani realizes what she is. The overdose sparks a violent chain reaction in her, and when Monica finally wakes, she’s got the body of a porn star — and two sexy alien mates who are determined to tame her.

If only she were as determined not to let them…

Recommendation:

Alien Overnight is a delightfully different, fabulous read. Monica is one heck of a sassy, non-conventional heroine. She handled adjusting to a whole new body and reality with moxie. She doesn’t let her two Alien men push her around but gets right back in their faces. It seems this is the kind of reaction these two hunks like from their woman. The men are hot and the sex is scorching, definitely not vanilla sex.

In addition, Ms. Rotham has a wonderful imagination. Not only can she write a spine tingling love scene but she plot a very creative story. Make sure to check out Robin L. Rotham’s new book at Ellora’s Cave Publishing. I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this new author.

{May 17, 2007}   Pushing Boundaries

I love pushing boundaries. It’s one of my favorite things to do as an author. In my personal life, I’m a bit more…reserved. With my characters, I can push, poke and prod to see what happens. Heck, staying within the constraints of society’s imposed boundaries is boring! If someone didn’t have the courage to push against the norms we’d still be stuck in the stone ages, afraid of our own shadows. We certainly wouldn’t have any of today’s wonderful technology if people didn’t test the limits.

Since I write erotic romance, this means pushing past sexual fears, taboos and limits placed on sexuality, broadening horizons, and delving into new territory. Damn, do I have a fun job or what? *g* We all have different appetites. The only way to explore the possibilities is to punch through the box and set your imagination free.

A recent review of Tamara’s Spirit gave me pause for all of about two seconds when the reviewer said she found a specific scene “unpalatable”. *screeching to a halt* Say what? This is a scene I’ve been total is hot and stimulating. Heck, I didn’t even think I’d pushed very hard. A perfectly natural event was viewed by the hero and heroine and he talked about the parallels between raw, animal sex and their desires.

It’s a shame the reviewer missed the intense sensuality of the scene where Dakota is doing his job on the ranch, breeding and caring for the horses, and speaking provocatively to Tamara, who’d just done some shoving of her own. He moves in close behind her, trapping her against the fence. While answering her questions about the horse mating process, he goes into explicit, juicy details of exactly what’s happening that he longs to experience with her.

I love dirty talk, as do many of my readers. There’s something inherently sexy in having a man move in close and whisper his desires in your ear. You can find an excerpt of the scene in question by clicking here. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Your responses help shape my writing, so chime in. Did I push too far in this scene?

Thirteen Cars I’d Like To Own

I’ve always been into cars. Love the sleek curves and power of a sports car. The freedom of a convertible. New car smell. The ruggedness of an off-road vehicle. The throaty roar of a muscle car. *deep sigh* I prefer deep colors–red, black, intense blue. I also prefer convertibles, as you’ll see in the pics.

These are my dream cars. Some are reasonable. Others maybe if I win the lottery. A few, not even in my wildest fantasies will I ever own. LOL!

The only resonable one on the list:

1.  Jeep Wrangler Unlimited $20K - $28K

Maybe someday list (If I get the base model without a lot of options):

2.  Dodge Charger SRT8 $38K - $45K

3.  Ford Shelby GT500 $40K - $50K

4.  Mercedes-Benz SLK $42K - $63K

5.  Chevrolet Corvette $42K - $73K

6.  Porsche Boxter $45K - $55K

7.  BMW M3 $48 - $56K

When I win the lottery list:

8.  Lexus SC 430 $65K

9.  Cadillac XLR $78K - $98K

10.  Dodge Viper $81K - $84K

Winning one of those mega lottery deals list:

11.  Hummer H1 Alpha $130K - $145K

12.  Aston Martin DB9 $170K - $185K

Never in my wildest fantasies list:

13.  Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren $450K

This is what I currently drive. Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. I love it. Its a great car, but it’s the family car. I hope to get something that’s just mine in the next year or so.

{May 14, 2007}   Reasons The English Language Is So Hard To Learn

This was posted on the Samhain Publishing Yahoo group by a fellow author, Stacia Wolf, and I couldn’t resist posting it here. The English language is confusing at best, making the work of an author very challenging! I can’t imagine trying to learn English as a second language. And this doesn’t even go into slang words, which can make things even more difficult.

The bandage was wound around the wound.

The farm was used to produce produce.

The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

We must polish the Polish furniture.

He could lead if he would get the lead out.

The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. I did not object to the object.

The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

They were too close to the door to close it.

The buck does funny things when the does are present.

A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

After a number of injections my jaw got number.

Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries in France (Surprise!).Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat.

Quicksand works slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t groce and hammers don’t ham?

If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn’t the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese.  So one moose, 2 meese?

Doesn’t it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend. If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? Is it an odd, or an end?

If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

Why doesn’t “Buick” rhyme with “quick”?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out, and in which, an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

{May 14, 2007}   Survivor Finale

Okay, I know some of you watch. I am a total people watcher. I love to see how different people will handle the same situation. Will they be lead by emotion, instinct or intellect? Survivor is a great show for that reason.

Here’s your chance to speak out. Who did you want to win and why? Are you mad about the person who got the money? And what do you think of Dreamz’s move with the immunity necklace?

IMHO, Yao messed up big time. He made a bad gamble. Give a man a car for a promise of a return favor. Hello! The motto of the game is “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay.” Of course Dreamz was going to take the car, make the promise, then do whatever was necessary to take home money. If Dreamz had handed the necklace over to Yao it would have been the same thing as handing the man his lottery ticket before checking the numbers.

Don’t get me wrong, Yao was my favorite. That little dude surprised me in the challenges. He’s smart and a good player. I think he deserved to win right up until he made that bargain. Cassandra only got there by riding other’s skirt tails, so I didn’t feel she deserved anything. Earl would have been my second choice, and of the three up there, would have gotten my vote.

Don’t agree with me? Speak up! I’d love to hear your opinion.

{May 12, 2007}   Incognito Series by Madison Layle & Anna Leigh Keaton

Series Blurb:

Open the doors to a world where your true self can flourish. Unleash your darkest desires in a fetish club where safe, sane, and consensual is a motto founded on real love and erotic romance. Delve into the alternative lifestyles of BDSM, where Master and sub find freedom in giving pleasure. Now’s your chance to take a peek, and go…Incognito.

This award-winning, best-selling series features stories about triadic and Dominant/submissive relationships with an emphasis on true love and happy-ever-after endings.

The blurbs for each individual book are posted on Ms. Keaton’s website. The authors have created a wonderful website for the series Incognito Series where you can find all sorts of background information on the main players, the club and how it works, see the logo, along with a bit about the authors. You can also check out the books on Ms. Layle’s website where there is a list of the upcoming titles.

Recommendation:

I have been following this series since the first book came out, impatiently awaiting each release, and devouring the stories. I’ve discussed the books with readers, but finally realized I had yet to blog about them. What a horrible oversight on my part. Incognito is one of my all-time favorite book series and I can’t recommend them highly enough!

These fascinating stories will keep you riveted from the first page. While BDSM is a primary element, the stories do not got to the extremes so they will appeal to readers who enjoy a bit of the darkside without the excesses of some books within the genre. Make sure to have ice and either a significant other or B.O.B around. The Incognito books are scorching hot and full of heart!

Um, about the 2nd book, Owning Rachel. I’m claiming Jonathon and Jackson, should Rachel ever foolishly leave them, so all you hussies back off. They’re mine!!! *unsheathing claws, growling*

The 6th book, Charming Carmen, is set to release in June, with three more stories planned to follow. I’ll be sad to see Incognito come to an end, but with the books on my keeper shelf, I’ll be sure to revisit the club often!

You can find all the Incognito books at Cobblestone Press.
