Nicole Austin – Romance Author

Leave Me Breathless, a new free story, is now available on my website.

Blurb:

Donna’s graveyard shift at the hospital couldn’t be any more boring. She needs something to shake up the night. In walks hunky Dr. Romano, and things are suddenly looking better. In fact, he’s just what the doctor ordered to cure her boredom. She’s shocked when he follows her into the darkroom, but pleasantly surprised by their heated encounter.

Whew…what a week I’ve had! I was busy working on Margarita Day with TK last week and then got first round edits for Tamara’s Spirit Friday night. Spent the weekend working the “real” job and darting into the edits cave when things at the hospital were slow. Thankfully, the edits went really well. I’m done for now and happily exhausted.

I’ve decided that I have a serious addiction. A sickness I just can’t fight. The first step is admitting you have a problem right. Okay. Hi! My name is Nicole and I’m a biblioholic! There is no cure or 12 step program to fix this disease. Not that I’d want one anyway.

Right now I have 90 books on my Ebookwise that I haven’t read yet. Ninety <thud> Holy moly! I had no idea it even held that many. So what am I sitting here doing this morning? Perusing the coming soon page at Samhain to see which books I’ll be buying tonight. Ugh!

This may require an intervention. LOLOL!

{February 21, 2007}   Ghost Rider

A few months ago, I made a deal with my son. He goes to see Blood & Chocolate with me, and I go see Ghost Rider with him. I got the short end of the stick! LOL! I sat there watching this movie shaking my head. What the hell were they thinking? A chain-wielding skeleton riding a motorcycle and he’s on fire. Love the flight of fancy thoughts, but come on. Why did Nicholas Cage’s agent even pass the script on to him to read? I mean, wasn’t Wicker Man bad enough. Sheesh!

And Sam Elliot. There’s just something about that man. He could read the phone book to me and I’d be enthralled, but this was just sad. Chewing chaw and spitting a constant stream of tobacco juice. Uck!

Eva Mendes was also in the movie, and I don’t think it would have been humanly possible to show any more of her fake breasts without her being naked. Her boobs were all up in the camera in every image capture of her.

AJ thinks because of the way it ended that there will be a Ghost Rider II. No way! Not for me! His father can take him to that one. LOL!

{February 19, 2007}   Two New Contracts

WOOHOO! My wonderful editor at Samhain Publishing sent me two new contracts this weekend. The cowboys are coming, and so is the sequel to Mimosa Night. I’m sure I looked like a total spaz when I jumped and ran down the hospital hallway while hooting and hollering. LOL!

Jesse’s Challenge ~ Book 3 of the Corralled Series

Coming in 2007 ~ Samhain Publishing

Blurb:

A few stolen intimate moments shared with a nameless beauty present a challenge no cowboy can resist.

Jesse Powers feels like a fish out of water when he leaves the ranch and jumps feet first into the shark infested waters of big business wheelers and dealers. Homesickness rides the cowboy hard until a fiery uptown girl captures his interest and lassos his heart.

Kate Brooks has a plan she’s reluctant to deviate from. A strategy for climbing the ranks as a graphic artist and starting her own company. She certainly can’t afford to let her rigid control slip and give into the distraction presented by her hunky, peeping tom neighbor—no matter how great the temptation.

They both like to be in control, sharing only one common ground—sex. Kate’s willing to submit to the right man in the bedroom, and Jesse just may be that man. Chasing their dreams will put more than miles between these lovers. The gaping distance is filled with challenges and hurdles they’ll have to conquer to find true happiness.

{February 16, 2007}   Free Story – Coming Soon

As promised, in between all my other projects, I’ve been working on a new free story. Leave Me Breathless is almost ready. I’ve sent it off to my critiquers and hope to have it posted on my website soon.

 Leave Me Breathless

Donna’s graveyard shift at the hospital couldn’t be any more boring. She needs something to shake up the night. In walks hunky Dr. Romano, and things are suddenly looking better. In fact, he’s just what the doctor ordered to cure her boredom. She’s shocked when he follows her into the darkroom, but pleasantly surprised by their heated encounter.

{February 14, 2007}   Happy Valentine’s Day

Ah, Valentine’s Day. A day for love and romance. Millions of women hoping he’ll do something special. Millions of men praying to get it right. That’s just too much stress and a set up for disappointment. It’s become a hallmark holiday filled with sentimental greeting cards, buckets of flowers, cuddly stuffed animals, heart-shaped chocolates, fancy dinners out and little velvet jewelry boxes.

I say forget all the commercialism and get down to the basics. A homemade treat or handmade card means so much more than expensive flowers, candy and jewelry. Take a little extra time today to show those you love they are appreciated. That’s all the day requires, a bit of extra special attention gifted to loved ones.

One of my most favorite memories of Valentine’s Day involved a personal handwritten note and a sunset stroll on the beach. You don’t have to spend tons of money to make is a wonderful day. Just wear your heart on your sleeve, give in to a bit of romance and let the rest take care of itself.

Have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!

{February 13, 2007}   Cover Art – Tamara’s Spirit

Woohoo! I’m absolutely in love with the cover artist Anne Cain created for Tamara’s Spirit. She really captured the feel of the book, and that hunky alpha…whew! Only seven more weeks ‘til release day. <g>

{February 12, 2007}   Surrender by Kimberly Zant

Blurb:

Desperate straights call for desperate measures—If anyone had asked Anna before what she would be willing to do for money, what she’d just signed up for would NOT have been on the list. She’s discovered, though, that the needy can’t afford to be too picky.

And, after all, what’s six weeks in the scheme of things?

Despite her internal pep talk, though, she discovers she isn’t at all prepared for what she has to face in the mansion of ill repute—where ‘no’ is no longer a part of her vocabulary unless she wants to forfeit the money she needs so badly.

Rating: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, and some scenes of sex with mulitple partners/ménage a trois.

Oh my! What a sizzling story. One woman, five guys, a bit of mild BDSM and six fun filled weeks in a mansion. And it has a happily-ever-after ending. Whew! I recommend picking up fresh batteries or having the SO around if you’re gonna read this scorcher!

Surrender is available from New Concepts Publishing

{February 10, 2007}   Checkmate by Annmarie McKenna

Blurb:

What’s an alpha shape-shifting wolf to do when the woman pre-destined to be his mate no longer trusts men?

After returning home from an eight-month security job, Eli Graham is ready to claim his best friend’s little sister as his mate. He’d put it off for years, thinking he was doing the right thing by waiting. Instead of the stubborn, independent, carefree girl he left behind, Eli finds a shell of the woman he once knew.

Having lived through a near fatal attack, Nikki Taylor has hidden herself away from the world. Now the time has come to face head-on the one man who could devastate her completely, Eli Graham. She’s loved him forever, craves him, body, heart and soul, but he’s never treated her as anything but a little sister.

When Nikki witnesses a murder, she has no choice but to rely on Eli’s expertise. While guarding her from the man bent on wiping out a witness, Eli shows Nikki that he’ll not only protect her body, but he’ll show her just what it means to be a wolf’s mate.

I can’t recommend this book highly enough. Wowza! It has everything. Suspenseful plot, vivid characters, intriguing secondary characters, cunning bad guy, hunky alphas, and scorching hot sex. I read it in one night, totally incapable of putting it down. Now I have one question for Annmarie. When is Derek’s story coming out? <g>

It was fun to catch up with the characters from Seeing Eye Mate, but this story can easily be read as a stand alone.

Checkmate will be available February 13th from Samhain Publishing.

{February 7, 2007}   Blood and Chocolate

The movie, Blood and Chocolate is based on the YA book of the same title by Annette Curtis Klause. It’s the story of a young woman whose family was murdered by angry men for the secret they carried in their blood. She survived by changing into a wolf. Even living a world away in Bucharest, Vivian is still running. She spends her days working in a chocolate shop and nights trawling the city’s underground clubs, dealing with the reckless antics of her cousin Rafe and his gang of delinquents. Vivian only truly feels free when running through the woods.

Aiden is an artist researching ancient art and relics for his next graphic novel based on the mythology of the loup garoux – shafeshifters whose power to change effortlessly into the forms of both human and wolf was once considered holy among men. Wrestling demons of his own, Aiden hopes to explore what the shifter achieved that he lacks, transcendence.

During a chance encounter, Aiden and Vivian come together, but her future is not her own. She belongs to the pack leader and will likely become his next mate. Their love puts Vivian and Aiden on the run, hunted by her pack and fighting to change her future.

Watching this movie was similar to having a Lora Leigh, Lorie O’Clare or Shelly Laurenston shifter book come alive before your eyes, minus the hot sex. My twelve year old son enjoyed the movie as much as I did. In fact, he’s not debating over what type of shifter he would want to be. LOL! I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys shifter stories.

You can learn more about the movie on the MGM offical site.
