{October 27, 2006}   Halloweentime

Only four more days ‘til Halloween, yay! Fall is my favorite time of year, and I absolutely love Halloween. It’s so much fun to dress up and hit the neighborhood streets while trying to figure out who is behind each costume. Just watching the kids delight in the festivities is a blast.

When I was in my teens, my friends and I would find every haunted house in town and get our parents to take up to them all. Now many of the theme parks put on spooky haunts for the occasion. Those were the days! *sigh*

Usually a bunch of us from work get together and hit Bush Garden’s Hollow Scream. Since I’m the brave one of the group, they always make me go first into the spooked up attractions. Of course, they found out it was not good for me to be last in line because I would try and scare them even more…lol!

I love carving pumpkins and decorating the house. We have orange net lights draped over all the shrubbery, a full-size skeleton and a ghost hanging from the trees, and all sorts of fun decorations.

Here’s some awesome pumpkin pictures I found on the net. There are some very talented carvers out there! It’s difficult to believe some of these are actually pumpkins.

Enjoy and have a happy Halloween!

{October 22, 2006}   Medical Hiatus

Sorry, I haven’t been great about updating my blog. I’ve been on medical leave from my “day” job for the past week, and will remain so for the next few weeks. Been having some problems for a while, which will hopefully be fixed by the procedure I’ll be having soon. I’ll be heavily mediated afterward, so I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting. Once I’m back up and running, I’ll try to stick to a regular schedule of blogging.

{October 17, 2006}   Mmm…mmm…mmm…Manlove by Nicole Austin & Ally Blue

Ever wondered about the allure of two men interacting in erotic fiction? Considered reading a book with M/M content? Authors Nicole Austin and Ally Blue have joined forces to explore the subject and maybe entice you into giving one of these hot stories a try.

Male/male sexual interaction in erotic fiction and art is becoming more and more popular as women discover the sensual allure of hot manlove. There is something out there for every appetite, from strictly M/M, to ménages. Even groupings where a woman is part of the equation.

According to Wikipedia, as much as 98% of M/M fiction is written by heterosexual women, and read by both heterosexual women and homosexual men. Similar dominance of women authors can be found in the romance and erotic romance genres.

There are many different genre titles for M/M fiction. Slash fiction is fan fiction focusing on a sexual or romantic relationship between two characters of the same sex. The name evolved from the use of the slash symbol (/) to indicate the primary paring of the story. You will also see the terms Yaoi used for M/M stories and Yuri for F/F ones.

Some women readers prefer having a female character in the mix, allowing them to be drawn into the story on a more personal level by providing someone to whom they can relate. Nicole Austin’s (www.nicoleaustin.net) first novel, Passionate Realities, features a M/F/M ménage relationship where the heroine encourages the heroes to experiment with each other. Nicole is working on more stories featuring hot manlove culminating in a lasting if unconventional bond.

Ally Blue (www.allyblue.com) writes scorching M/M erotic fiction. Ally is a wife and mother, nurse by trade and writer of manlove by inclination.  Her books tend toward angst followed by Happily Ever After. Ironically, if her books were male/female instead of male/male, they would be considered fairly traditional – except for the graphic sex scenes – as her couples tend to fall in love for life and end up with a permanent monogamous relationship.

What is the appeal of M/M sex and romance for women? Lovers possessing equal strength coming together in an explosive sex scene can be a powerful aphrodisiac for female readers, just like F/F interaction in adult videos appeals to many men. There is less need for gentleness in an equal pairing, allowing the men to follow their primal instincts and creating raw, potent couplings.

Another appeal for many women is the range of emotions experienced by the men in M/M romance. In these books, a woman can sit inside a man’s head and feel what he feels during the roller-coaster ride of falling in love. We get to see men becoming vulnerable in a way they seldom are with the women in their lives. It’s a peek through the window into something a woman can never experience: what it’s like to be a man loving another man.

Of course, the Hotness Factor cannot be denied. For many people, male and female, who are attracted to men, it’s a simple matter of “if one’s good, two – or more – are better.”

You can find free stories to read on both of our websites, as well as links to purchase our books and check out erotic romance publishers along with other authors.

Release some inhibitions along with those pesky preconceived notions and indulge your senses in the pleasure of some manlove.

{October 14, 2006}   Stefan’s Salvation by NJ Walters

Lonely and discontent, Stefan Dalakis roamed the North Carolina countryside. His brothers have both found their mates, and he longs for the one woman he can love for eternity.

Witch or gifted psychic, Laurel Rose McCaffey lives a solitary life at her family homestead in the mountains. Feared by most of the town, she’s never bothered until strange things start to happen on her property. A hotel chain wants her land to build a resort, and the town’s residents are all for the idea.

What starts out as small problems develops into a dangerous situation for Laurel Rose, leaving her with only one man she can depend on, but can she overcome her fears of the unknown and believe in a myth—a vampire.

Hold onto you heart, this third story in the Dalakis Passion series will take you on an exciting, emotional thrill ride. While the book is a stand alone, I suggest reading Harker’s Journey and Lucien’s Delight first, in order, since you will meet up with the characters from those books again.

The characters are larger than life and seem to jump right off the page and into your life thanks to NJ’s awesome story-telling skills. Laurel Rose is a real woman who is easy to relate to and Stefan is a dark, gothic vamp who will drive you blood pressure sky high.

The hotter than hot sex will require a change of panties and a block of ice for cooling down, especially the porch swing scene. Oh my! This is filled with suspense, intrigue, peril, and thrills galore. Warning: You will likely become addicted to the vamalicious Dalakis men!

This book will be available from Ellora’s Cave on October 18, 2006

{October 13, 2006}   Thrill Ride Commute

One of my Yahoo group members sent these pics of St. Remnaya Road—The Road of Death—in Bolivia. This wicked, narrow road is literally cut right into the face of a mountain. I’d hate to drive it with cars coming at your from the other direction, but it would be a total blast  if the road was closed off except for me and I had a kick-butt sports car to take those curves with. Wow! That would be a fun commute! I can see it now…

{October 3, 2006}   What happened to September?

I can’t believe its October already. Wow! Where the heck did September go? It seems to have gone by in a flash. I wish that I could claim to have been busy writing, but I’ve been tied up with personal things, such as unexpected twists with a deceased relative’s estate.

I’ve learned more about probate court than I ever cared to. Very complicated stuff. The whole thing has been like something from one of my books. Two and a half years and it’s still not settled. Whatever you do, no matter how much or little you are worth, do your family a favor and complete a will!

Imagine finding out you stand to inherit from a distant relative, and the eccentric old woman was worth more than a million dollars but had no will. She had bank accounts spread through out town with $550,000 in cash that could have been invested and earning more money. She did have $350,000 invested in stocks. And yet with all this, she was driving a 9 year old Crown
Victoria worth about $2,000. Boggles the mind!

You can’t take it with you, so why the heck not enjoy what you have while you’re here.
